What Is an OA (Online Assessment) and How to Prepare
What online assessments are, how they're used in hiring, and how to prepare for coding and behavioral OAs.
An OA (online assessment) is a timed test that companies send to candidates before or during the interview process. It often includes coding and sometimes logic or situational questions.
Typical OA format
You’ll usually get one or more coding problems to solve in a fixed time, in a browser-based environment. Some OAs are proctored; others are not. Reading the instructions and practicing in a similar environment (e.g., timed, no external help) helps.
How to prepare
Practice on platforms that mimic OA style: timed, clear problem statement, and running against test cases. Get comfortable with one language and with explaining your approach. An AI co-pilot can be useful during your own practice to understand solutions and improve before you take the real OA.
